LaGrange Park Caucus, Rose Party slating candidates

LAGRANGE PARK — In LaGrange Park, another office has become available for endorsement by two local groups with the resignation Oct. 23 of Trustee Susan Storcel, a member of the Rose Party.
A replacement will be appointed until April, when someone would be elected to fill the remaining two years of Storcel’s term.
Rose Party Chairman Jason Vitell said they intends to interview candidates and name a slate after the Nov. 6 election, though no timetable has been determined. The party held a forum Oct. 19 to discuss village issues.
The LaGrange Park Caucus has endorsed incumbents Karen Boyd and Lucy Stastny and former Village Board member David Raddatz for three seats on the Park District of LaGrange Park Board over newcomer Tim Ogden.
In the only contested village office, the caucus selected incumbent Amanda Sidell over newcomer Emily Provost for village clerk. The caucus endorsed Jim Discipio in his bid for a third term as village president and two candidates for three seats on the Village Board, Mario Fotino, a Zoning Board of Appeals member, and Michael Sheehan, a Plan Commission member.
Carol Rocco, caucus secretary, said incumbent Lavelle Topps has indicated he won’t run for a second term on the board and trustees Marshall Seeder and Rimas Kozica didn’t seek a caucus endorsement.
Newcomer Rachel Weaver Rivera was slated for one of three four-year terms on the Library Board, but no one sought slating for the other two seats or a two-year term, Rocco said.
LaGrange Park residents aren’t required to appear before a slating organization in order to run for office in the April 9, 2013 election, but must meet age and residency requirements and obtain the required number of signatures on a nominating petition to be filed at Village Hall.
