LA GRANGE — Police issued an alert late Friday afternoon about a man driving a green SUV who approached a 13-year-old boy March 6 on the south end of town.

The boy was walking north on Spring Avenue near 49th Street about 6 p.m. when an SUV pulled up and the driver said he was a retired teacher from Gurrie Middle School, located several blocks to the north.

When asked if the boy remembered the man, the boy ignored the question and walked away.

Police said the man then drove off, heading north on Spring and then east on 49th Street.

The driver is described as a white man, 55 to 60 years old, who is clean-shaven with a full head of gray hair and wearing a light blue jacket.

Police said additional patrols would be assigned around schools.
