School is right around the corner and Lyons Township is welcoming in a whole new class, and trying to make the high school transition a bit easier. Read the release:
Lyons Township High School plans to welcome the class of 2018 before the first official day of the 2014-2015 school year. Incoming freshman will gather for Freshman Experience Day at South Campus on Wednesday, August 13, to become familiar with South Campus, faculty and staff, and students.
The freshmen will have South Campus all to themselves. They will be divided into small groups all led by upper classman and supervised by an adult staff member. The small groups will discuss LT traditions, along with what freshmen should expect the next four years of being an LT lion. Presentations from administrators are also scheduled, as well as team building activities, tours of South Campus and a complimentary lunch in the main courtyard.
Freshman Experience Day is a great way for the incoming freshmen to get comfortable with a new school and with the idea of being a high school student at LT. This day is an LT tradition that makes the transition from middle school to high school a little bit easier.
Below is a sampling of the sessions freshmen will take part in at Freshman Experience Day:
- Welcome by Principal Dr. Brian Waterman
- Technology overview and expectations by Director of Technology Ed Tennant
