Motorists might think nobody is watching, but driving around a stopped school bus with flashing lights could be a costly mistake in Westchester. Following complaints from school bus drivers in the fall, police have stepped up a campaign to catch violators and write citations, said police Lt. Mike O’Hagan.

Head Start preschool to resume in two La Grange districts
Tentative agreement has been reached for the Head Start preschool program to resume operating in two La Grange school districts, possibly in November. A change in agencies administering the federal grant, plus more restrictive regulations governing contract negotiations combined to delay the program’s start since the beginning of the school year.

Western suburbs join to prepare for Ebola
The chances may be remote, but west suburban first responders and hospitals are gearing up to effectively handle any potential case of Ebola. Additional precautions will be taken in responding to some 911 medical emergencies with more questions for patients and protective gear in La Grange, Western Springs, Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills. Staff members at Adventist La Grange Memorial and Hinsdale hospitals have undergone special training and are procuring additional protective gear.

Parents and students interested in learning about a Catholic education at Montini Catholic visited informational tables regarding academic, spiritual and sports clubs offered at the school. They were also given the opportunity to visit presentations on computers, social studies and business, science, fine arts, campus ministry, athletics and student activities.
