BEDS Plus, a homeless shelter and service agency, threw its second annual, wildly popular Prom on April 28 at the Village Club of Western Springs.
More than 125 guests made for a full house, jam-packed with nostalgic prom activities. With no chaperones and plenty of spiked punch, this was a dance do-over for adults.
Attendees got into the full spirit by dolling up in their finest retro dance or prom attire. Outfits ranged from ruffled tuxedos to elegant ball gowns.
Joe and Sarah Takash of LaGrange Park were named this year’s king and queen of the prom, complete with crowning and a first dance.
Other activities included a sit-down dinner, a martini bar and raffle prizes including Bears tickets, a weekend in Chicago package and a premier wine collection.
BEDS Plus serves the homeless in La Grange, LaGrange Park, Brookfield, Riverside, Countryside, Western Springs, Hinsdale and Lyons. For nearly 25 years, it has operated shelters and programs, and provided a place for the homeless to sleep and have dinner and breakfast. It also offers case management services, health screenings and services with a registered nurse as well as a daytime job training program to help clients find and obtain work.
