Helping Hand held their annual family picnic at Walker Park in Burr Ridge on June 30. More than 300 people braved the heat in support of the Countryside-based nonprofit which serves children and adults with disabilities.
The Family Association, a group of parents and family members of Helping Hand clients, presented the organization with a check for $10,000.
Volunteers from St. John of the Cross Parish in Western Springs, Kohl’s, Best Buy as well as kids and adults from the local community kept the activities running smoothly in the heat, allowing 100 children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to dance to music, play games and enjoy time with family and friends. Phil Palmer of Palmer’s Place provided grilled burgers to the crowd.
