The Theatre of Western Springs gathered good friends, spread out a feast and celebrated the theater at its sixth annual Taste of the Arts fundraiser on July 21.

More than 350 guests came out to the theater on a beautiful summer night to sample cuisine from 14 area restaurants.

Food booths and tables were set up outdoors, with the silent and live auctions happening inside. The live auction included a skit and several fun vignettes featuring TWS’ own actors hamming it up for the crowds.

“The live auction on our main stage was as much a fun-filled performance as an auction,” said Jennifer Jermano Miller of Indian Head Park, chairwoman of the event.

Participating restaurants included Bella Bacino’s of La Grange, Cafe Salsa of Countryside, The Chew Chew of Riverside, 800 West Restaurant & Scavuzzo’s Café Italia of Western Springs, Emilio’s Tapas of Hillside, Events by Tommy R.’s of Hinsdale, Francesca’s Bellezza of La Grange, Mécénat Bistro & Gathering Place of Western Springs, Taste of Home Catering of Hinsdale, Tavern on La Grange, Thipi Thai of La Grange, Whole Foods Market of Hinsdale, La Petite Sweet of Westmont, and Lillet’ Candies Gourmet Chocolate Shop of La Grange.

“Taste of the Arts was a wonderful event for the community,” said Jermano Miller. “It was great to see all our guests on the large patio in front of the theater with activities going on indoors and outdoors. Actors and actresses of the Theatre of Western Springs worked the event to ensure a successful evening.”

Theatre of Western Springs will begin its 84th season with Ron Hutchinson’s “Moonlight and Magnolias,” directed by artistic director Rick Snyder and opening Sept. 6 for a two-week run.
