Residents of the Plymouth Place retirement community in LaGrange Park were treated to a program Jan. 19 on the history and culture of exotic drums from around the world.
Rita Lopienski, director of community life at Plymouth Place, presented the program, which has won the International Council on Active Aging 2007 Innovations Award, in part because participants of varied fitness can take part. Residents also had the opportunity to join in keeping the beat and experimenting with various rhythms.
