LA GRANGE — Agreement has been reached granting an average pay raise of 2.82 percent annually over the next five years to members of the Lyons Township High School Service Employees’ International Union Local No. 73.

The Lyons Township High School District 204 Board Monday approved an agreement ratified by a majority of the union’s 56 members in June.

The union represents employees in four categories, including custodial, maintenance, grounds keeping and shipping, receiving and driving, said Ed Piowtrowski, director of human resources.

Hourly wages depend on certifications for each position, as well as years of experience at LT. At the lowest level, custodians who earned $16.18 an hour last year will make $16.75 an hour under the new contact’s first year, Piowtrowski said.

For a maintenance worker requiring the most certification and training, hourly wages will increase from $19.72 the first year to $22.63 by the fifth year, he said.

Superintendent Tim Kilrea termed negotiations for the new contract “highly professional, productive and very responsive to the community and taxpayers and fair to the employees.”
