LA GRANGE — Armand’s Pizzeria opened Dec. 19 in La Grange, the 10th franchise of the Elmwood Park restaurant which began in 1956.
With casual seating for 45 diners, the restaurant features a rotating oven with seven trays to accommodate up to 28 pizzas at once for delivery, carry-out and catering orders, said manager Mike Amato.
Amato said La Grange was chosen for the company’s next location, in part, because of the train station.
“There’s a lot of traffic walking by, and you can come in for a slice and take it to go while riding the train,” he said.
The restaurant handed out about 800 slices of pizza during La Grange’s Holiday Walk to introduce Armand’s to visitors.
“It was great to see people loved it,” Amato said.
The restaurant at 26 S. La Grange Road offers thin curst and double-dough pizzas with a variety of ingredients including Italian beef and peppers and ham, bacon and pineapple for a Hawaiian pizza.
Six versions of Pizza Nova, a 10-inch thin crust pizza, use olive oil instead of tomato sauce.
The eatery also offers appetizers, salads, soups, pasta and desserts. Amato said the restaurant plans to offer three white and three red wines and a selection of domestic and seasonal beers.
“We’re famous for our stuffed artichokes,” Amato said. “It’s boiled and it blooms. It’s stuffed with a family recipe of bread crumbs and baked until it’s golden brown.”
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. More information is at (708) 469-7244 or www.armandspizzeria.com.
