La Grange crime briefs for Jan. 8

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the area police departments.
La Grange
ACCIDENT
A 74-year-old La Grange man was transported for treatment at 5:28 p.m. Jan. 7 to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital following a two-car collision at 47th Street and La Grange Road.
A 51-year-old La Grange man was transported at 7:48 a.m. Jan. 7 to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital following a crash at 47th Street and Gilbert Avenue.
A 62-year-old Chicago woman was taken to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at 1:15 p.m. Jan. 5 after a second vehicle collided with her car on Lincoln and Tilden avenues. The injured woman, Claudia Marie Johnson of 1104 E. 46th St., was cited for unsafely opening her door in traffic as she was parked on Lincoln Avenue.
DISTURBANCE
A 26-year-old homeless man was removed from the La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., at 4:36 p.m. Jan. 6 after he was reported to be intoxicated and passed out. The same man was transported at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 5 to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital after he was found passed out on a bench outside the library.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Black spray-painted letters were found at 9:22 a.m. Jan. 7 on the north side of a building on the first block of North Catherine Avenue.
An anarchist symbol was etched in a top-floor sign at the village parking garage, 80 S. 6th Ave., and discovered at 9:42 a.m. Jan. 6.
Graffiti and stickers were discovered at 8:37 a.m. Jan. 1 inside the lobby of the village parking garage, 80 S. 6th Ave.
THEFT
A large stuffed bear in front of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, 50 S. La Grange Road, was reported stolen at 5:54 p.m. Jan. 6. A 16-year-old La Grange boy and a 17-year-old LaGrange Park boy were caught with the bear at 12:24 a.m. Jan. 7 near East and Lincoln avenues, and the bear was returned to the store. No charges were filed, police said.

PROPERTY DAMAGE
Graffiti was spray painted on the bridge over Salt Creek at Jackson Avenue and found on Jan. 2.
Someone used spray paint to apply graffiti Jan. 2 on equipment at Memorial Park. La Grange Road and Oak Avenue.
THEFT
Someone stole the head of a nativity scene figure Dec. 28 from a yard on the 1100 block of East 31st Street.
An aluminum garbage can was reported stolen Dec. 28 on the 700 block of Stone Avenue.
A TV, stereo, computer and jewelry valued at more than $500 were reported stolen Jan. 3 from an unlocked common area of an apartment building on the 1400 block of East 31st Street. The items later were returned by an acquaintance of the owner.
