LA GRANGE — A 16-year-old boy and two Chicago men were charged late on Jan. 1 in Sedgwick Park in connection with the recovery of a car stolen earlier in the day.
Because he was behind the wheel, the boy, also from Chicago, was charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of marijuana when a police officer checked on the car after hours in the park at 10th and East avenues.
A check of the car’s records determined it had been stolen earlier in the day, said police investigator Patrick Fulla. The vehicle was returned to its owner.
In addition, Victor F. Pipes, 22, of 9212 S. Throop Ave., was charged at 11:41 p.m. with trespassing to a vehicle, possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
A second passenger, David D. Kornegay, 20, of 6837 S. Winchester Ave., was charged with trespassing to a vehicle and possession of marijuana. All three were cited for being in the park after it closed, a local ordinance violation.
Pipes is being held in the Cook County Department of Corrections in lieu of posting $3,000 bail. Information wasn’t available on Kornegay or the boy, who was taken to the county’s juvenile detention center.
