WESTCHESTER — Westchester police charged two men Feb. 22 after they reportedly were found in possession of property taken from a Westchester home.

Felipe Martinez, 21, 2635 S. Komensky, Chicago, and Fernando Gonzalez, 31, 3235 W. Cortez, Chicago, were charged with residential burglary and criminal damage to property in connection with a burglary in the 10400 block of Canterbury in Westchester that occurred Feb. 21.

A computer game system taken from the Canterbury Lane burglary reportedly was found when LaGrange Park Police arrested the pair in connection with a burglary of a home on the 1400 block of Scotdale Road in LaGrange Park Feb. 21. They were arrested after police received a report of a suspicious van on the 1600 block of La Grange Road.

Burglary tools and stolen items from both homes were found inside, police said.

LaGrange Park Police Chief Daniel McCollum said a call from a concerned resident led to the arrest.

“We encourage people to report suspicious activity and be nosey neighbors,” McCollum said. “In this case, we may never have captured the two without the assistance of a concerned resident.”

Gonzalez is being held without bond in the Cook County Department of Corrections. Martinez remained in jail Feb. 26 in lieu of $90,000 bond.

Residential burglary is a Class I felony with a sentence of 5 to years.~
