Adventist Midwest Health’s public relations team won two Pinnacle Awards from the Illinois Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations at the organization’s 2011 annual conference. These awards are the highest honors bestowed by the society, the state’s largest and most prestigious organization dedicated to the advancement of health-care marketing and communications professionals.

The team, which includes Regional Director Julie Busch of Yorkville and Senior Public Relations Specialist Lisa Parro of Aurora, is based in Hinsdale.

“Communicating our organization’s mission, values and progress is a daunting task, but our public relations department does exactly that clearly, strategically and cost-effectively,” said David L. Crane, president and chief executive officer, Adventist Midwest Health. “We are no longer content being known as the best-kept secret in town; we are proud to share the stories of how we are extending the healing ministry of Christ in our community every day.”

The team was recognized with the following awards:

Award of Merit, Writing Project: The Miracle of Chelsey. Baby Chelsey was born at 23 1/2 weeks gestation — the earliest ever to survive at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital. The touching story of the nurses, physicians and other caregivers who helped her beat the odds was featured on the front page of the Chicago Tribune and in various other media outlets, underscoring Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s world-class healthcare and neonatal services.

Award of Merit, Integrated Marketing Campaign: Keeping Chicago Well. Through a partnership with Tribune Media Group, which includes the Chicago Tribune newspaper, WGN-TV and CLTV, Adventist Midwest Health educates consumers on heart health, obesity, cancer care and other health topics. This multimedia campaign is the largest integrated marketing campaign in the organization’s history and has increased patient awareness and significantly engaged physicians with Adventist Midwest Health.
