McClure Junior High in Western Springs beat Park Junior High in LaGrange Park in the seventh-grade boys basketball championship game for the Hodgkins Park District Township of Lyons.
Many schools participated in the tournament, including Forest Park, Heritage, George Washington, Gurrie Middle School, St. Francis, Highlands Middle School, St. Johns, Pleasantdale, Westchester and St. Cletus. McClure’s team’s record was 19-1 for the season.
Team members are Vincent Zona, Charlie Kidder, Dan Wennerstrum, Matt Ureel, Sam Frieze, Joey Rohaly, Connor Niego, Junior Christian, Jack Walton, Phil Metcalf, John Prescott and Evan Kupec. Managers were Nik Krull and Griffin Wasz, and the coach was Dan Leddy.
