Westchester police blotter for Aug. 28

The following incidents were listed among the reports of the Westchester Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
ALCOHOL
Juanita Valdez, 59, of 851 York Road, Bensenville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped during a roadside safety check in the 10900 block of Roosevelt Road at 2:36 a.m. on Saturday.
Janet Niesen, 27, of 2526 Lincolnwood, Aurora, was charged with DUI and speeding after a traffic stop on Roosevelt Road at Bristol at 12:09 a.m. on Aug. 18.
ASSAULT
Peter Lopez, 18, of 2801 Kensington, Westchester, was charged with sexual assault after a woman claimed she was assaulted while spending the night at Lopez’s home on Aug. 15.
BURGLARY
A laptop computer was taken from a screened porch at a home in the 1000 block of Portsmouth between 1 and 11 p.m. on Saturday. The home was entered through an unlocked window.
Cash and jewelry were taken from a home on the 2200 block of Mayfair between 1 and 4 p.m. on Aug. 13. Someone forced open a back door to gain entry.
DAMAGE
A BB was shot through a door at a home in the 1300 block of Mandel. The damage was discovered at 11:28 a.m. on Friday.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Michael Frank, 26, of 10313 Pelham, Westchester, was charged with disorderly conduct after he was accused of filing a false police report on Aug. 18. Frank reportedly told police that his girlfriend broke a window on his car. He later admitted he broke the window himself.
DRUGS
A 16-year-old was charged with production of marijuana after an incident at a home in the 1400 block of Suffolk at 2:17 p.m. on Aug. 21. Officers responding to a domestic dispute smelled burnt marijuana and noticed six plants in a bedroom closet. The teenager was released to a family member and petitioned into Cook County Juvenile Court.
THEFT
A resident of the 1800 block of Kensington told police that someone used his checking account to make $8,400 worth of unauthorized internet purchases between June 22 and Aug. 20.
Dennis Harris, 45, of 1036 Bellwood Ave., Bellwood, was charged with retail theft after he was accused of taking four bottles of Red Bull, valued at $17.16, from Walgreen’s, 10345 Roosevelt Road, at 1:40 p.m. on Aug. 16.
A digital camera and a briefcase were taken from an unlocked car parked on the 2600 block of Somerset during the night on Aug. 16.
A 2004 Chevy Venture van was stolen from the 700 block of Hull between Aug. 2 and 15. The van had been parked on the street.
