LAGRANGE PARK — A few minor sprinkles didn’t keep supporters of the Empty Bowls project away. More than 300 visitors gave a $20 donation for a handcrafted bowl and the chance to have it filled with treats from area businesses, restaurants and community groups May 9 at the Village Market Shopping Center. The event spearheaded by the Village Potters, with a studio in the LaGrange Park shopping center, helped raise cash and awareness of hunger and poverty as problems to be solved locally, as well as globally.
